Trusting the Unknown

Have you ever been unsure of something? Have you ever been uncertain about EVERYTHING ALL AT ONCE? At the moment, I am going through a phase of my life where I am uncertain about everything. I am mostly uncertain about my future. I am unsure of my feelings and what I want. I want something but I am afraid to go for it because I do not want to get hurt, make a mistake, or I lack confidence. I want to know what I need to do to not get hurt again.

I have heard plenty of times,

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28 ESV

This verse always gives me a sense of hope and peace. Temporarily.

Its funny how we know that when we read this verse that things will work according to His purpose. But do trust that it will? We know that God knows what He is doing because He knows what is best for us. The hard part is accepting that He will provide, that He will reveal what is supposed to happen. Fully trusting Him is hard when you’re so overwhelmed with uncertainty and anxiety. I don’t want to make a mistake.

It is hard to not take the reigns and force the things you want in life, but if you try to take control, I believe that God will put you in your place. It’s a humbling thought, really. Yeah, He is good and He is kind, but He also cares for you. And if He cares, then He will chasten you (Hebrews 12:6, Proverbs 3:12) If you love Him, then you will trust Him. Trust is key to every successful relationship.

We believe that things will work according to His purpose, but do we trust that His purpose will prevail? There’s a difference between believing and trusting. We know, or we are aware, that God knows what He is doing. We believe that God knows what He is doing because He knows us exactly to our very core. Just read Psalm 139. We trust and understand that whatever He is doing in our lives is according to the plan He has for each of us.

Spend time in prayer. If you don’t know what to pray for, read the whole passage that contains Romans 8. Have peace. Be still. Spend time talking to God, casting your worries upon Him.

He has all these plans for others and also has a plan for you. He notices you in a sea of others. He has the time to let you know how much He loves you through His Word and His works. What a love I cannot fathom.

Measure Your Life in Love

  1. Just discovered your blog and just wanted to say that you are very talented and I have enjoyed reading a few of your posts! I needed to see this one today. The world needs more writers (and other people) who are in love with the One who loved us first, and shows others how to do the same. Keep shining! 🙂
