Keeping up with (Jinny) Khantisouriya

College, Life

So many incredible things have been happening to me lately. I want to share my small victories in no particular order.

1. I declared English with a Literature Emphasis as my major.

This is a huge step for me. If you personally know me, then you would know that I was struggling and panicking about what to do with my life. If you read, “The Annoying Question: ‘What Do You Want to Do with the Rest of Your Life?’” article, then you would know what I am talking about. (Check it out if you need some encouragement!) I can finally say that I am an English Major when I have to introduce myself in class. If you ask me what I am going to do with this degree, don’t ask me! One step at a time. If I try to skip a few steps, I may fall.

2. I have my first official photo shoot today!

One of my friends recently asked me to photograph her with her best friend. I am so excited. I have never charged anyone for photos, but this could be a start! I’ve only made art with still life and people but never really done portraits. So, if you need some nice portraits or head shots, let me know! We can work something out!

4. I’m in love with my friends.

I have grown closer to the people I spend a majority of my time with. This is what my heart longs for: quality time. We laugh together, panic together, cry together, and annoy each other, and I am so grateful for every moment. If you aren’t in love with you’re friends, then you need some new ones (quote from my friend, Eliza)

5. I have been asked to write articles for the Odyssey Online.

For those who do not know what the Odyssey is, it is a “social content platform” that consists of a variety of personalities, ideas, and viewpoints through social media. It is similar to an online magazine, so it is kind of a big deal. A majority of great articles derive from the Odyssey. This is a great opportunity for me to improve my writing.

6. My first Jamboree has been such a wonderful experience!

Jamboree is a friendly, fun competition between social clubs. We put on a show with fun choreographed dances, crazy makeup, creative lines, and colorful costumes. It is basically one big dance party and I love it so much. I love my Kappa/Phi Lambda family. I have no regrets.

7. My sister is getting hitched in less than 2 months!

I am so excited for my sister’s wedding. Not only am I a maid of honor, but I get to witness a beautiful union. I approve. Her wedding is in May. It is going to be the most lovely wedding ever. Not too long until it’s my turn (when I do find the one).

I am living the life right now.
