Autumn is the most beautiful time of the year. Some say that the colors make Autumn so wonderful, while others say football season brings joy and beauty to the season. If you know me, then you know that Autumn is my favorite season. I dream of it in the middle of July. When the first leaf falls, I crunch it. When there’s a slight breeze in the air, you will see me in boots and a long sleeve. When there are fall decorations available in stores, you will probably see me spending an two hours in that section, wishing I had enough money to buy decorations and gifts. Everything in this season is much softer. The sunshine is softer. There’s a slight breeze in the air. Leaves are tumbling to the ground in a different shades of Autumn. There are so many words and adjectives in the English language, but I cannot find any to describe my love for this season.
Though I am a little kid on the inside, I sure do resemble one on the outside. My favorite fall activity is going to the pumpkin patch. It’s where I fell in love. It’s been a tradition for the past 4 years. If you haven’t experienced the pumpkin patch, YOU ARE MISSING OUT. There are pumpkins of all shapes and sizes littered all over the ground, still attached to their vines and ready to be picked and carved. There’s a vast sunflower patch to get lost in. Sometimes there will be goats or other animals following you around. It makes my heart so happy. I don’t know why. It’s such an indescribable feeling. My heart swells, my face lights up, just at the thought of fall.
You are probably thinking how silly I am for being so in love with this time of year. There are many browns, golds, oranges, and reds. Like the changing of the leaves, we slowly bundle up in layers to fight the brutal winds. Parties start to consist of bonfires and s’mores. Soups are added to the menu. More coffee. More tea. Apple flavored, pumpkin flavored, cinnamon flavored, or a combination of all 3 are piled into sweet treats. Fall means fellowship. Who doesn’t like food + friends + family?
If you think of it, fall is such a loving season. Everything is much sweeter during this season. You get to wrap yourself in scarves, socks, and sweaters, as if you are giving you’re receiving a long warm hug. We tend to be more thankful for what we have. We try our best to count our blessings during this time of year. We visit each other, encourage one another. In a season of dead leaves and trees, there is so much life.
Happy first day of fall!
